The mood board was designed, primarily, to facilitate an overall consistent aesthetic that we will be utilizing moving forward. While this artifact is subject to change as we delve deeper into the various necessary components of the final product, the documentary will be enhanced by using a consistent color motif.
To that end, the mood board was made with the knowledge of emotions and feelings certain colors elicit. Blue is the primary color, but I've opted to specifically use a darker shade, highlighted by grays, whites, and some lighter blues. This is, mainly, due to the apparent association of the color blue with technology. Whether this is because of some association with the calmness and security of the color blue, or if this is due to some corporate branding practices, I am not sure. However, the utilization of blue shades seems to be quite prevalent within tech, whether that is for logos or actual parts. (Oddly enough, many internal components of giant companies tend to be single-color branded, such as Intel with blue, NVIDIA with green, AMD with red, etc.)
In addition, a significant and interesting component of MR&D according to some of our research, shows tech in agriculture, military, and healthcare to be especially of note. As such, shades of teal and green are seen throughout some parts of the mood board. I made this a part of the overall color scheme in order to draw emphasis on these technologies specifically, as all three have strong associations with green. (Military camo and colors tend to be a dark faded green, healthcare and surgeons use blue, teal, and green items as shown in the board, and agriculture is often associated with growth and, literally, plants, which are green)
Lastly, the contrast between light and dark shades exists to seem more futuristic. Often when we look at sci-fi scenarios, we employ an extensive use of gray and white, seemingly as some kind of "sterilized" version of the future where we've figured out how to clean everything. White, as a color that is relatively devoid of shade, serves as a deep contrast to the darker hues present, both for reasons that appeal to the aforementioned futuristic vision, but also so it visually pops. Too much leaning into accompanying colors tends to make the viewer tired, especially when the overall color scheme is so melancholy.

This was primarily made through the usage of express, inspired by some pop-culture and personal color theory knowledge, and some use of ChatGPT. Although I haven't found access to visual AI software yet, ChatGPT was able to textually explain the usage and purpose of some colors that would fit the aesthetic. I had in mind a template mood board I found in the Adobe database, but ended up only using it as inspiration. Additional text is present within the mood board for smaller, minute observations about the used images/colors.
